I wrote in an email to Joe:
That is a wonderful photo of you and Angelo.  War changes people in many ways and some things change for the better.  You probably don't have any photos of you and your buddies with your arms around each other before you went to Vietnam.  That would have been un-cool.  Yet, when you face death together, you grow to love and respect each other in a way that those who have not served in a war will never understand.  So there you are in Nam, with your arm around Angelo, like brothers, smiling like life has true meaning.
