I wrote in an email to Joe:
It really warmed my heart to see you guys get on the bus to go back to the Real World.  I knew you would finally be safe - that when I waved that last wave you would be on your way back to your families.  It felt so good to know you would make it home.

When I visited you at the firebases, I always knew there was a chance that I would never see you again.  I never asked, "where is so and so?" because I was afraid of the answer.  I cared so much about each and every one of you.
