Often it is many years after it was taken when a picture finally becomes clear. This picture was taken by a kind soldier at Vinh Kim. As I look at it now, I am impressed by the framing of the picture. In the bottom right corner is a child, to the left an M-16 and in between I strum and sing, oblivious to the reality that I am quickly transitioning from the innocence of my youth to the cruel realities of war – where the guns are real and the hero does not come back to life in the next movie. The child on the cot learned those realities much too young. |
